About the initiative
The Kalba Schools Challenge is an interactive competition running throughout Kalba Sports Festival for government and private school students. Daily challenges combine knowledge, sport, creativity and teamwork, and bring families and schools into a fun competition that strengthens national identity and belonging to Kalba.
Goals
- Encourage positive competition between students.
- Spread a sporting culture and an active lifestyle.
- Introduce Kalba’s tourism, environment and culture.
- Build teamwork between the student, family and school.
- Increase engagement with the festival’s events.
- Motivate schools to take part every day of the festival.

- Parents, in some challenges.
- Teachers and school leadership.

No entries are accepted after the deadline.
How it works
Register online in advance; every student gets their own account.
New challenges are published every day at 5:00 PM.
Complete the challenges and upload photos, videos or answers before time runs out.
The committee reviews entries and awards points; the leaderboard updates daily.
Challenge types
Questions on Kalba, sport, Emirati heritage, the environment and general knowledge. Example: what is the famous nature reserve in Kalba?
A simple activity — jumps, a short run, a ball skill — with a short video as proof; or a sport question such as how many footballers a team has on the pitch.
A photo with a Kalba landmark, a festival event, a sport activity or the festival logo.
Photograph or identify a local plant, a bird, marine life, a natural landmark or a good environmental habit.
An activity with a family member — a walk, a game or a workout — with a photo of it.
Design a logo, draw, film a short video, write a cheer or invent a sport move.

How results are decided
Points are totalled over all 5 days. Ties are broken by:
- The number of challenges completed.
- How quickly entries were sent.
- Quality of execution.
- The jury’s decision.

The leaderboard
- Students: top 10 boys, top 10 girls, highest total.
- Schools: most participants, most points, highest participation rate.
- Teachers: most motivating, most entries from their students.
- Families: most active family, highest-scoring family, number of family entries.
Rules
- Register in advance on the platform.
- One account per student.
- Keep to each challenge’s deadline.
- Photos and videos must be original and made by the participant; copied material is not allowed.
- The committee may exclude any entry that breaks the rules.
- The jury’s decision is final.
